The Secretary of the Interior's Standards for Rehabilitation: Intrepretation and Application video -- Download, watch or order your DVD copy below for $10.
Broad enough to apply to an 1810 brick house, a 1900 steel truss bridge, or a 1961 Bertrand Goldberg-designed public housing project, the Secretary of the Interior's Standards for Rehabilitation guide thousands of building rehabilitation projects across the nation each year. Richly illustrated with images of actual building projects, this 30-minute video examines the interpretation and application of the Standards. The Standards offer sound advice for building owners, architects, and contractors. The Standards also form the basis for both local historic design guidelines and for preservation review at the local, state, and federal and levels. What's architecturally significant about an historic building? When are non-original alterations to a building historically important? Why is it better to repair than replace historic materials? How can archeology relate to a building project? What's the best way to design additions to historic buildings, or new construction in historic districts? This video discusses each of these issues, and others, within the framework of the ten Rehabilitation Standards. Click here for order form! Click here to watch immediately.
